driftwood_thangsokay so you know how i mentioned going to see my friend's band live and accidentally missing their entire set? WELLLL guess who i got to see live for real this time last weekend! they were super good & it was generally a very fun experience . it amazes me how talented my friends are sometimes
i also found out today that i got 84% on my latest maths test which is like. genuinely awesome.
AND!!! big thing: franz ferdinand announced an australia tour YIPPEEEEE!!! hopefully im gonna be able to go see them w some friends... if i can then i'll get to see them live TWICE :-D
exams start in a few weeks though so that's less fun. but that does mean i get to start my usual rewatch of peep show that i do while studying for exams -- i've decided to start using a system of 1 hour study = 1 episode of peep show & its honestly worked great so far
i've been getting quite into computers and that kind of thing lately as well (it's all the PC Zone i've been reading), ive set up an emulator of a win98 system on my pc and everything... its all very interesting although admittedly i seem to be getting to a point where i know stuff thats useful to know if youre using a computer from the 90s and not so helpful now . but eh who cares its fun
OH MY GOD AND OF COURSE. ALSO. black mirror season 7 came out!! and just like i'd predicted, plaything was chock-full of references to charlie brooker's own life in the 90s. pc zone (i legitimately squeed when i saw it lmao), doom in the pc zone offices, troubling lsd experiences and of course. THE COMPUTER EXCHANGE. with the original logo that he designed... and of course. the part that made me the most joyous of all. the poster in the back of the computer exchange which featured none other than TOBY of the HERE'S TOBY comics charlie used to draw for the computer exchange!!! i had jokingly predicted a cameo of here's toby before the ep came out and let me tell you i did NOT expect it to come true. but i was so happy it did. that whole episode was just so cool honestly, it made me immensely happy to see all the little details of the 90s ("but you literally didn't exist then" I'VE BEEN LIVING THROUGH THE 90S UK PC GAMING SCENE AS I READ PC ZONE OKAY I FEEL AN ATTACHMENT TO IT NOW!!!) and also oh my god cameron looks so much like charlie did for most of the nineties with that goofy little buzzcut 😠interestingly, i dont actually know if he had a buzzcut in '94... ik he didn't in '95 bc of a picture of him from then that was featured in an issue of pc zone once but like. haircuts change, obviously . so you never know... NOT TO SAY THAT CAMERON IS JUST A BROOKER COPY OR SOMETHING. hes a very interesting character and tbh the additional insight of charlie's lived experiences just adds to his character i think.
best part of the new BM season has of course been the many new interviews and appearances from charlie brooker. i do wish annabel jones would do some too though... jessica rhoades joined the executive producer role in the last 2 seasons and has done all the interviews ive seen from then and while she seems like a lovely person, well. i miss annabel :( she's so funny and has such interesting commentary on the episodes... tldr I MISS ANNABEL !!! but if she just doesnt want to do interviews anymore i respect that.
